Councillor Tony Ford

Tony Ford
I have been a Town Councillor since May 2007 representing Ashton Ward. I had the privilege of serving as Mayor for two years, a task I thoroughly enjoyed, representing the council and its members at various functions and events throughout St. Anne's.
I am relishing the challenge of developing the various activities of the Council and take great delight in the fact that we now have a base from which to operate right in the centre of the town and that we have staff working for the benefit of all the town's residents. One of our many achievements has been gaining Quality Town Council status!
Prior to becoming involved with the Town Council I was the Headteacher of a large primary school in Thornton Cleveleys but opted for early retirement in August 2006 with a view to spending more time on my allotment and enjoying a quieter existence. However I am now busier than ever, spending my time dealing with council matters, sitting as a Magistrate in Blackpool, working as a volunteer on the East Lancs. Railway and being involved in many more community activities in the town.
I am a member of Fylde Rugby Club, Blackpool and Fylde Rail User Group (BAFRUA), Lytham Heritage Group and Lytham Civic Society.
I have a keen interest in local history and am eager to see the retention of buildings with character and/or historical significance in St. Anne's. I not only helped to revamp the St. Anne's Town Trail but I also lead walks around St. Anne's to raise people's awareness of its history and its architecture.
I am currently involved in promoting St Anne's in Bloom and encouraging local groups and residents to take part.
